Greenwood went into this 6th round tie having disposed of St Kevin's Boys in the previous round. As to be expected this was going to be a tough match to come through.
The game started with Greenwood opting to play against a very strong wind which played a major role in the outcome of this game. After 15 minutes good work down the right wing earned a corner. Eoin McGreevy whipped over the ball but the Mervue defense cleared only for Conor Sexton to hit the ball back into the box where John Egan dived to head low into the Mervue net.
Noel Cotter tormented the defense with some outstanding play on the right hand side of the pitch. Conor Sexton ran himself into the ground on the other flank. Greenwood went in at half time leading by a single goal.
The second half Mervue got on top but magnificent defending by the Greenwood back four of David Philpott, John Egan, Ian Lordan, and Martin McGreevy kept them at bay. This was another great team performance and the lads from Togher march into the quarter final of the competition.
